Lancom Technology lands in the USA

Making the best use of its natural advantages, Auckland headquartered managed services and software development company Lancom Technology is opening its first office in the United States of America. With an initial presence led by Chief Revenue Officer Jahan Kahusi, the company’s US operations benefit from the extensive reach of its Chicago-headquartered parent Lyra Technology Group.

Specifically, Lancom Technology intends finding new customers for its internationally proven software development capabilities, and its expertise in hyperscale cloud computing, application modernisation, and business process automation.

Lancom Technology CEO Priscila Bernardes says two things are true of the American market. “This is the world’s biggest economy, and it is already very well serviced by existing providers. We’re well aware of these facts, however also confident on our proven track record enabling businesses unlock potential, through leveraging cloud solutions."  

The expansion builds on recent successes including its late 2023 acquisition by Evergreen Services Group, which operates Lyra Technology Group. Through the Group, Lancom Technology is one of 77 managed services companies located in every state and every major city in the United States. This, notes Lyra Group ANZ regional CEO Waruna Kirimetiyawa, is a unique advantage. “Breaking into the American market is no easy task, and few New Zealand service companies have successfully achieved real penetration here,” he says.

The former CEO of Lancom Technology, who moved to his current position following the Evergreen acquisition, says Lyra’s reach is a powerful advantage. “In effect, we have the infrastructure and presence to be on the ground, with substantial resources, wherever our USA clients may need us.”

The managed services market in the United States is projected to reach a value of around US$69.55 billion this year, a figure taken from industry forecasts estimating a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 10.82%. Projected to reach US$ 116.25 billion by 2030, Bernardes says those impressive numbers by no means indicate ease of access. “We’re under no illusions that the task ahead is challenging. But Lancom Technology is built on a can-do attitude which also defines our USA operations.”

Kahusi joins Lancom Technology with extensive experience in developing the go-to-market and account management best practices for one of the largest AWS and GCP cloud consulting partners globally. “We have a unique opportunity where Lancom’s technical expertise, coupled with our growing partnerships, forms a strong foundation for success,” he comments. 

Continuing, Bernardes says increasing demand for managed IT services is driven by factors like digital transformation, cybersecurity needs, and the shift to hybrid IT environments across various sectors. “And those are all areas where we shine, with proven expertise in sectors including  financial services, healthcare, logistics and distribution, retail, ISV/SaaS, and professional services, along with a strong focus on service and value optimisation.”

She adds that the sweet spot for the company includes companies with $30M+ revenue, 150+ staff, and digital/cloud-first approaches.
